Several consumer segments and demographics are seeking the nutritional benefits provided by venison<\/em>. Women, flexitarians, athletes, and seniors are at the top of the list.<\/p>\n

The USDA recommends that women between the ages of 19 and 50 get 18 mg of iron a day, while women aged 51+ and men aged 19+ need 8 mg a day. With venison<\/em> being rich in iron compared to other types of meat, consuming a reasonable amount can provide the necessary nutrients as recommended.<\/p>\n

Venison<\/em> is also a great source of protein, which makes it ideal for health-conscious people that are trying to limit dietary fat intake, increase muscle mass, and\/or include more protein in their diet. Venison<\/em> is a great option for flexitarians as well, because it is full of protein, iron, and other excellent nutrients.<\/p>\n

Some older adults (seniors) require a more protein-rich diet, as most aging bodies process protein less efficiently and need more of it to maintain muscle mass, strength, bone health and other essential physiological functions. Experts recommend that healthy older adults consume around \u00bd a gram of protein per pound of body weight daily \u2014 a 25 to 50 percent increase over the RDA \u2013 for example, a 150-pound woman would require 69 to 81 grams and 81 to 98 grams for a 180-pound man.\u00a0Switching to venison<\/em> can help seniors in getting the extra protein they need without increasing their meat consumption.<\/p>\n
